Question: In 400 words, Using ethical principles in your arguments, discuss if your believe those who assist patients to commit Physician Assisted Suicide were acting in an ethical manner or not. Make sure that you refer to the ethical issues as concerning Physician Assisted Suicide?
Physician Assisted Suicide
It is an act of killing yourself intentionally with the help of someone who provides the knowledge or the means to do so.it is distinct from euthanasia.
There are many kinds of ethical questions to fight with. There are many difficult questions that cannot be answered precisely.
It is totally depend on the person who's suffering from a terminal illness. If he can make decisions he can opt physician assisted suicide by following certain norms in bylaws. There is no ethical issues arises in this case.
But if the patient is not oriented and if physician or family wants assisted suicide,it is a highly confusing state of dilemma. Moreover the ethical issues arise since the patient hasn't have the freedom of autonomy or to choose how he wants.
On the other hand, if the patient had already made a consent beforehand in order to ensure physician assisted suicide due to his early diagnosis of a terminal illness is justifying because the decision comes from the patient himself and it has strong legal value .
To conclude , it is a highly arguable topic which completely depend on patients who's suffering due to a terminal illness. It is subjective and hence the decisions are to be made wisely to avoid ethical dilemmas.
