Describe the steps in the electron transport chain including enzymes and coenzymes involved (4 sentences total)

Then, briefly mention 2 other systems of energy production that may be used to fuel exercise and where in the cell they occur. (2 sentences total)

Solutions

Expert Solution

Steps of Electron transport chain-

  • Final stage of aerobic respiration is electron transport chain that located in inner mitocchondrial membrane.
  • The ETC involves series of redox reaction that relies on different protein complexes to transfer electron from a donor molecule to the acceptor through complex I,complexII,complecIII,cytochrome c and finally complex IV.
  • Due to the electron movement a expulsion like force move hydrogen ions to the cytosole creating a proton gradient accross the membrane.
  • After that a protein complec called ATP synthase binds to these proton and bring them back to the mitochondrial matrix while rotation and synthesizing ATP from ADP.

The other two system of energy producition are-

1. Glycolysis which located in the cytoplasm of normal body cell.

2. Krebs cycle which takes place in the matrix of mitochondia in the cell.
