Using SPSS, perform an independent t-test to test whether there was a significant gender difference in alcohol consumption in last Saturday's party.
I am also confused as to how to put this into SPSS to get the answer.
Data should be entered as shown below,To do independent t-test in SPSS
Analyse > Compare means > Independent sample t-test. Then a dailog box will be opened as shown below
In dialog box, given Test variable as data and group variable is gender and also define groups as female and male as shown below
Then click on OK to get following output
Since t-significant values are less than level of significance, we can conclude that There was a significant gender difference in alcohol consumption
