Identify the types of support systems that a company can install to support the execution of its strategy. Identify and discuss the importance of each of these types of support systems to the strategy implementation process?
There are 3 main types of support systems that a company can install.
Those systems are - I> Decision support system
II> Executive information system
III> Expert system
I> Decision support system - It is made mainly for the managers to help them to take a decision and increase their effectiveness. This system mainly gives a capability for managers to make a decision by supporting tools and data.
The main features:-
1> It not produce any specific decision. It can be used in various decision-making situations.
2> It is a very user-friendly system.
The advantages:-
1> It evaluate a large number of data quickly. It reduces the effort an the time for analyzing different data.
2> Managers can easily make business models using this system to enter into the process.
II> Execution information system - It is mainly made for top managers to produce and deliver information after gathering decisions through Decision support system.
The features:-
1> It offers for data analyzing using models as per user choice.
2> It analysis the requirement of executives and generate a report.
The advantages:-
1> Using this system top managers can easily send messages to project managers for maintaining product quality. As this system can make different queries regarding product quality.
2> It helps top managers to communicate with project managers easily. There is no chance for miss communication.
III> Expert systems:- The project managers get advice from experts through this system as there is the increasing complexity of business work processes.
The features:-
1> It has the different area of expertise like new product launch decision, buy or sell decisions, performance checking decision, product management decisions etc.
2> There are many ready-made expert systems to solve any type of difficult problems by producing right decisions.
The advantages:-
1> It increase the reasoning ability of managers to show in rules, texts, graphs etc.
2> It provides solutions when anyone needs. It is more active than any human experts.
3> It gives prompt and unique advice for any problems. The advice does not change in any situations.
