Question #2 For a product of your own choosing, pick one logical variable (e.g., age) that can be used to segment the market. Now add a second variable (e.g., gender) so that customers have to satisfy the categories of both variables simultaneously (e.g., 18- to 24-year-old women). Now add a third variable. How many possible segments can you identify from a combination of three variables? What implications does this have for the marketing manager?
answer-
let take the example of a beauty product ( BB CREAM)-
the above product can be used by the customers of age between 18-24 year old & this product can also satify the gender variable means it can be used by women & it also can satisfy the third variable which is marital status means married or unmarried both type of women can use this product. it can also satisfy the fourth variable which is occupation like women with occupation like doctor or engineer etc can use this product.
possible segments for the above three variable would be
demographic segment in which customers can be targeted based on thier age, gender, occupation etc
psychographic segment in which customers can be targated based on thier personality, attitude, lifestyle etc.
2- implications for the marketing manager-
