Question 2: What is a bonus? Should ALL employees be given the opportunity to earn a bonus? Yes, no, why?

Solutions

Expert Solution

A bonus is a compensation paid by the company over and above the fixed part of the salary of an employee. Usually, the bonus will depend on the performance of the company and also on the performance of the employee. The companies usually pay a yearly bonus based on the performance of the company and it will be paid to all the employees in all the levels. The bonus should be available to all the employees of the company to earn and this should be solely performance-based. The employees will have the opportunity to perform and make more money than what they are used to make in their current job as a fixed salary. This can also act as an encouraging factor for the employees and it will have a positive impact on the productivity. The bracket for the bonus should depend on the employee level in the organization and every employee should have a specific number that he can achieve. Most of the companies follow this method and have seen success. This is very commonly followed in the organizations that are sales oriented and they keep the salespeople excited with a good bonus scheme. So it is important to provide an opportunity to earn a bonus to all the employees.
