Answer 1:

In popular culture, comprises of a set of beliefs, practices and objects along with activities and feelings that are supposed to be dominant in a specific time period.

In my opinion there is an excessive amount of coarse and profane language in popular culture. The reason to support my answer is that popular culture values an individual most highly. These individuals see battles in their social and professional lives. In such a case in order to present ones thought individuals use excessive amount of coarse and profane language.

For example, the way in which a wake up call has to go a bit overboard, to be heard. Similarly, in popular culture, an individual or a group believes that by making use of coarse and profane language they will be heard.

Answer 2:

I don’t completely agree with the statement that popular culture is whatever corporations decide. In fact in popular culture all the emphasis is laid on individuals, their beliefs practices and objects. However, corporations play a major role in deciding the culture of the workplace. They build their own practices, beliefs systems, and activities. Therefore, the role of corporations is also important in building and deciding the popular culture. But, at the end it is the people who decide what to follow and what not to follow.

For, example if corporation decides that within an organization, every individual will be given equal importance and everyone is free to promote and discuss their idea. However, if the immediate leader of an employee is not supportive, he will not allow the subordinate to discuss or present the idea and break the hierarchy. Therefore, I am in partial agreement with the given statement that popular culture is whatever corporations decide.
