Temperate forests are more productive and diverse than tropical forests. True or False
Coral reefs are formed from the shells of organisms living in the ocean. True or False
A Chaparral community is an example of a temperate scrubland. False or True
The climax community is the first to grow in primary succession. True or False
In which zone of a lake does turnover occur?
What type of stratification does a rocky intertidal community have?
tropical rainforest:
greatest species diversity
succulent plants
coniferous forest
permafrost
taiga:
succulent plants
greatest species diversity
coniferous forest
permafrost
tundra:
succulent plants
coniferous forest
permafrost
greatest species diversity
desert:
permafrost
coniferous forest
succulent plants
greatest species diversity
False. Tropical rainforests have the highest mean net primary production of any terrestrial ecosystem because stable tropical rainforest environment promotes diversity by allowing plants and animals to interact all year round without needing to develop protection against cold or frost
True. Most coral reefs are formed from stony shells of tiny animals that live in the ocean.
True. Chaparral is a characteristic native shrubland found in temperate climate.
False. Spores of lichen or fungus are the first to grow in primary succession, climax community is in fact the last to grow in primary succession.
In Lake turnover, water turns from upper warm zone at top known as epilimnion to cooler zone at bottom known as hypolimnion.
Based on the overall average exposure of the zone, the intertidal region is divided into three zones i.e. high, middle, and low. The high intertidal zone is only covered by the highest of the high tides, and therefore, is exposed much of its time. The mid intertidal zone is regularly exposed and submerged by average tides. The low intertidal zone, is only exposed to air at the lowest of low tides and is primarily marine in character.
