A standard operating procedure (SOP) is a document that provides clear-cut directions and instructions as to how teams and members within an organization must go about completing certain processes.

Flowcharts are best used to illustrate SOPs when multiple outcomes are possible at certain points throughout the process. In such cases, the outcome of one step will impact the way in which the team will need to approach each subsequent step.for example
