Context

Construction plant and equipment used to erect steel and concrete frames:- Now a days generally Crane system are used to erect steel and concrete frames, because crane is very suitable to take the steel and concrete frame at higher height easily without any harm in the precast frame, the choice of crane is based on the available space, type of construction, and availability.

Other method for this purpose is MEWP-"Mobile Elevating Work Platforms"this is also a very good technology for assembling, moving and to erect steel.

Questions

a )Explain the use of steel and concrete frames in superstructures construction. You should include the use of steel and concrete in the context of merits and de-merits including the levels of skilled labour required, lifting and placement requirements and safe working access

b) With superstructures comes the height associated with building above ground level. Explain the hazards and risks associated with superstructure activities. This should build on the evidence for information and a for this project.

A concrete plant is considering a new piece of equipment with an initial cost of $75,000 and a salvage value of $15,000 at the end of its 25-year useful life. The annual maintenance cost for this piece of equipment is projected to be $10,500. The equipment will produce an annual labor savings of $24,000. What is the approximate projected before-tax rate of return on the equipment?

A piece of equipment now is use at a plant is under consideration for replacement. It has a market value of 8,000. This market value is expected to decline by 50% per period (from the previous period) until it reaches zero at the end of period 3. The estimated operating and repair cost for the next period is 26,000 and this is expected to grow at a rate of 15 percent per period. A replacement has been located that will...

A portable concrete test instrument used in construction for evaluating and profiling concrete surfaces (MACRS-GDS 5-year property class) is under consideration by a construction firm for $25,500. The instrument will be used for 6 years and be worth $2,500 at that time. The annual cost of use and maintenance will be $13,000. Alternatively, a more automated instrument (same property class) available from the manufacturer costs $26,000, with use and maintenance costs of only $7,500 and salvage value after 6 years...
