- “Challenge the Status QUO” - It
means doing things in a better way by identifying ways to add more
value to what we are delivering to our client or to our
organisation. In order to excel as a project manager one must add
more value than everyone else. It is a change in the business
processes and technology which can be brought by being conscious of
the operations in the current world and implementing new and better
ways of doing same things. The steps involved in this process are
:
- Making an understanding of the
current business processes and the expected benefits from
them.
- Now the task comes to finding the
ways to do the same work in a better and effective way which yields
more value to the project, client or to the organization.
- Now the final stage comes of
implementation. A successful project leader works in a supportive
environment and so the leader must motivate all the people in the
project team about the plan. All the people in the project must be
clear about the vision of the leader.
- Challenging the Status Quo is so
important for the success of project managers in modern
organizations as:
- As the world is very dynamic in
nature and in order to prosper as a project manager, a leader must
be different from the competition.
- Status Quo reaps limited rewards
and challenging the Status Quo becomes necessity to find better
ways to do a task.
- The best example of Challenging the
Status Quo is – Women’s Revolution.
Earlier the men used to dominate the world. Every right was
owned by the men in the house; the right to vote earn money and run
the family. This was for the hundreds of years and now it has all
changed. We see women with every right, business places. They are
not only responsible with the maintenance of the house but also
running it, owning properties, foot to foot with men, running
businesses, etc. it took courage and passion to change their
life.
