Plants and animals appear to be very different in both form and function, but are they? Do you think there are more similarities or differences between plants and animals at the cellular level? Explain and provide specific examples to support your position.
Plants and animals although have similar cellular organisation, but are different biological individuals . They differ in form and structure. Plants have cells with cell wall and plastics which are absent in animals. Plants have tissues called meristematic tissues which divide continuously thus olants show growth throughout life where as animals grow up to certain period.
Plants perform photosynthesis which animals cannot. Tissues in plants are different from that of animals.
Most of the animals are motile where as plants are non motile.
At cellular level plants have more differences than similarities with animals.
Plant cells have very large vacoule which is not the case in animals. Plants have lysosomes called aleurone grains which can store food. Plants have smaller Golgi bodies scattered called dictyosomes where as animals larger localized Golgi bodies. Animal cells bear pair of centriles called diplosome which is absent in plant cells.
Thus there are vast amount of differences between plants and animals at cellular level.
