For example, the corn is eaten by the mouse, mouse in turn eaten by the snake and snake is eaten by the eagle representing a typical food chain with the transfer of matter and energy between them.
  • Food web: It can be defined as the graphical representation of the transfer of food through who eats who and interconnection of the food chain. It not necessarily follows a linear chain like the food chain. It can many different paths connecting many different plants, animals, and organisms.
  • Ecosystem: When in a given geographic region biotic components like plants, animals and organism and abiotic components like mineral, climate, soil, water, sunlight, and landscape function together to form a functional form of life then they are called an ecosystem.
  • Producer: This refers to that group of life forms which can produce their food on their own with or without sunlight also known as autotrophs is called producer. For example, plants and trees etc.
