Sexual reproduction increase the probability that a sexually reproducing species will not go extinct during a period of environmental change. This is because of the following reasons:

The variation that sexual reproduction creates among offspring is very important to the survival and reproduction of the population.The genetic diversity of sexually-produced offspring is thought to give species a better chance of surviving in an unpredictable or changing environment.

Also in sexual reproduction, different mutations are continually reshuffled from one generation to the next when different parents combine their unique genomes; this results in an increase of genetic diversity.

On average, a sexually-reproducing population will leave more offspring than an otherwise similar asexually-reproducing population.

Also sexually reproducing organisms are more fit than asexually reproducing organisms.They have the ability to survive and reproduce in a population. They have a heritable trait that enhances the fitness of an individual compared to individuals without the trait.

So they are better adapted in a changing environment then is asexually reproducing organisms.
