Do you think the media is too biased one way or another? Assuming that there is a bias, how do you think we should reduce that bias as a society? How do you avoid developing a bias in your news sources?
Media is supposed to be unbiased and
take a stand where they treat all the news equally important.
Today, if we look at the same story in different media, each one
would have told the story from their point of view and perception.
Their perceptions are affected by culture, race, gender and
beliefs. Another important reason is that media gets lots of news
but they select whatever they like will get good TRP rating rather
than what's important. All these will also be influenced by the
person who owns the media and who or what the owner supports as
media is owned by big corporations who decide what has to go and
what shouldn't.
Today, literacy rate is high, technology has developed and social
networking media are available, so, it's our responsibility as a
society to make sure we believe news after knowing the truth
completely. We need to know the background of the owners of the
media and with whom they are associated with. We Should also use
our social media to spread news on any discrepancies.
It's very important to get the news from first hand source. One
shouldn't take sides and involve in any acts that would question
our integrity such as corruption. One need to be careful about news
that would bring confusion and conflict in the society.
