________________ compounds are made up of non-metals only.
Ans. Covalent compounds are made up of non-metals only.
Reason :
First we have to understand what is covalent bond. Covalent bonds are formed when pairs of electrons are shared by two or more than two atoms.
Now the question arise why only non-metal does so, this is because non-metal easily satisfy the octet rule and gained stability by shared their outer most electrons or valence electrons. we know the octet rule in which all atoms in the compound having 8 electrons in their valence electron shell (attain nearest nobel gas configuration).
taking example of two non-metal atoms(H and Cl).
Hence, covalent compounds are made up of non-metals only.
