Introduction- Gender dysphoria is kind of disorder in which a person feel difference between biological and psychological gender identity. A person with gender dysphoria experience strong uncomfortable condition with biological gender and feel a different gender approach psychologically.
Identification- According to DSM IV TR, should be at least three symptoms presented in a child.
1- Strong opposite feeling and commitment towards self-gender.
2- Boys try to use girl’s clothes and girls use boy’s clothes.
3- Use of gender related toys, like dolls and motorbikes etc.
Review of Documentary- The documentary describes situation of a person with dysphoria and social reaction regarding the disorder. The documentary touched soft corners and feelings of a person who want to change their gender, before the event of Caitlin Jenner, dysphoria was a social and biological problem but the present days we know its psychological factors. Researches says that the gender identification disorder could be seen more in boys than girls, (Cohen-Kettenis, 2003), the common result of gender identification in boys is bisexuality rather than transgender approach.
The documentary was very important to understand psychological and biological conditions of a person with gender identity disorder, the documentary trying to change the social views as well as individual dignity.
