Revisit the picture of leadership you created in the first module. Contrast your picture of leadership with the description of transformational leadership in the readings. Has your picture of leadership changed? In what ways?Consider these changes for a moment: are they based on behavior, thinking, or worldview? How might these changes support or overturn assumptions or perceptions of transformative leadership?
Transformational leadership – This leadership style is based on the inspirational and motivational aspects that the leader shares with the followers. The leader employs enthusiasm and charisma to motivate the employees to think out of the box.
In this style, leader lays emphasis on the values, morals, ideas and needs of the organization and the followers.
It is a proactive style of leadership where the organizational strategy and values are given priority and followers are expected to work around the strategic objectives.
It is best suited for transformation and change in the firm in a turbulent and challenging environment.
It is a charismatic leadership style where the leader concentrates on innovation and creation rather than daily planning and execution.
A transformational leader is long-term focused and idea oriented. He/she considers strategic shift and radical transformation as the means for organizational development.
