Why have attitudes regarding se-x/se-xuality changed so significantly in the last fifty years?

In the past 50 years, one of the most important reasons of the changes brought about in virtually every field is the Internet and media. Today, a person aged 65 would be able to aptly describe the world that they saw 15 years ago, the mentality with which they entered into adolescence and the mentality that the adolescents have today. These vast changes have come up as a result of the changes in mass media and the outspoken ness of people, that has been able to transform the society to such large extents.

Homose-xuality or different se-xual orientations had existed even 50 years ago, but in the past, there had been development of a “normal” attributed by the society to only the heterose-xual behaviors along with major oppression for anyone who would be deviant for the established norm. This major oppression led people to carry out their behaviors either on a secrete or less open basis or be suppressed and steer away from their normal forms completely.

With the development of mass media and this widespread media reform, not only has awareness come along people about the varied forms of se-xuality and SE-Xual orientation, there have also been renowned celebrities who have come up and disclosed their se-xual orientation even though different from the established. With this, there have been increase in campaigns and movements that have opened the minds and eyes of the society stating that there could be variations and these variations are pretty much normal.

Currently, there has been regular portrayal of homose-xuality in television series, movies, documentaries about their lives, inclusion of homose-xual marriage as legal, provision for adoption, the formation of LGBTQ community and moreover, more and more renowned faces coming up and being open about their orientation. This has led to changes in viewpoints of people.
