I 'Name' writing this letter to apply for the doctoral position entitled “job's name”, available in the 'name of the company'. My research interest lies in the integrated field of mechanical engineering and biomechanics. In 2018, I have done a master's degree in Machine Design during that program I learned about the smart materials and their function using finite element analysis on software like MATLAB and ANSYS. After that, I applied for a one-year master's in Biomechanical Engineering in order to know and explore the possibilities of my previous expertise in the field of biology.
Presently, I am an M2(Biomechanical Engineering) student at the Ecole Polytechnique Palaiseau. So far, I have completed the first semester of my course and now I have been doing an internship for almost two months and the M2 course will complete by the end of August 2020. During M2, I have come across subjects like Biofluid Mechanics and Mass Transport, Biomechanical Modelling of Active and Passive Biological Systems, Smart Materials and Structures, Biomimetics and Animal Locomotion, and Statistical Mechanics, etc. So far, I have seen a very extensive horizon of application of fluid mechanics on different parts of the human body. Even, I have done a small project on the working cycle of the human heart using CardiacLab codes on MATLAB. Also in the second quarter of 1st semester, one of my classmates and I have done an analysis of lung-on-a-chip using Compsol and MATLAB. In which we have studied that how to increase the oxygenation in the flowing blood around the lung capillaries.
I got very thrilled once I have seen an opportunity to do a Ph.D. It is my dream to work on things that integrate the aspects of mechanics. As the given topic has many possibilities, could be a life-changing work for me.
Currently, I am doing an internship with Mr. 'supervisor's name' on the topic “CFD modeling of the stomach using MRI data”. In which, I am trying to extract data from several MRI file of the stomach. The data is mainly the velocity of the boundary points of the stomach. And I will also consider the rheology of chyme and finally I will use the Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM) to make a three-dimensional model and use the MRI data as input. We are also thinking to apply the same procedure on MRI data of rectum. So far, it’s been a great joy to work on this project and hoping to work beyond the internship on the proposed Ph.D. project.
I believe that my previous background in mechanical engineering and command on some modern language tools are suitable for this position.
