What is the etiological agent of amebiasis? How is it transmitted and what are the typical manifestations of the disease?
Etiological agent of amebiasis:- amebiasis is an infection caused by a protozoan named Entamoeba Histolytica this protozaon is found worldwide and person comes in contact with this type of protozaon when they take contaminated food or water. Entameoba Histolytica is present in the human feces and hence this infection usually occurs in places which have the lack of sanitations or where the barriers between the feaces and food and water supply is inadequate. Thus the mode of transmission is via fecal-oral route.
Clinical menifestations of amebiasis:- People suffering from amebiasis are mostly asmpyomatic i.e they donot show any signs and infection can remain for years without symptoms. The symptoms include mild diarrhea to severe dysyntary which shows the presence of mucus or blood with it. In some cases Entamoeba Histolytica can cross the intestines and enter the blood stream thus can reach to other organs as well.
