Research methods are defined as the processes or techniques used in the data collection or evidence for analysis to find new information or create better understanding of a topic. Each research methods uses different research tools.

Types of researches :

1. Qualitative research : It is all about living experiences, emotions or behaviours , and the meanings individuals attach to them. It provides a better understanding of complex things ,social human behaviour etc ,which helps in interpreting things and explain events how things happening.

Tools Used :

  • Interviews between interviewer and the person .
  • Focus group ,where a group of people discussing on a particular topic.
  • Observations : On site ,in context and role play are those.
  • Document analysis : It can be anything from a letter or emails etc.

2. Quantitative research : Collecting numerical data through a statistical analysis. This method is used whenever answering for questions such as how many, how much, how often, or to what extent.

Tools Used :

  • Surveys: Preparation of questionnaire related to the topic and making the target group to get it filled.
  • Observations: Counting the number of occurrences of an event or coding the data.
  • Document screening : Information from different sources are collected.
  • Experiment : Laboratory experiments for testing cause and effect . It involves field experiment.

3.Mixed Method : Combining qualitative and quantitative research methods. Both statistical data and contextual analysis is done. Data from different sources are combined and verified.

Research methodology is the scientific analysis of the research methods ,to find a solution to the problem. It is a science of understanding, how research is performed methodically. Unlike research methods ,it it the study of research techniques used for carrying out the experiments , surveys ,tests and so on. Right strategy or the entire procedure to the reach the result is done in this . Right procedures are essential to achieve correct solutions.

Differences between methodology and method:

  • Methodology is the system of methods used scientifically to find the final solution whereas , methods are the techniques used by the researcher to perform the research.
  • Methodology is the analysis of how an entire research is to be conducted , whereas methods are the tools used to conduct the research.
  • Methodology means learning all the necessary tools and techniques ,at the same time methods means applying techniques such as experiment ,survey etc .
  • Methodology means suitable procedures identification ,On the other hand ,methods means using the methods to find the actual result.
