Lemurs and lorises are part of the group strepsirhini (meaning wet nose) because they still have what is called a rhinarium which allows them to:
a) all of the above
b) recognize each other by the unique pattern on their nose, like fingerprints
c) small better
d) avoid disease
External openings of nose if the lemurs are surrounded by a hairless skin. It has the moist appearance. This structure is known as rhinarium.
Lemurs and lorises lack the cells required for clear vision. So they use the rhinarium to identify the organism which surrounds them. Rhinarium is a sence organ and has a chemosensory receptor .
Option B : As lemur lacks the proper vissible cell they identify each other by the pheromone. Lemur smells the pheromenon and identify others. Hence option A is incorrect.
Option C: The rhinarium is a sence organ and has a chemosensory receptor. This rhinarium is linke with a well developed vomeronasal organ. So that lemur has a good sence of smell.
So option C is correct.
Option D: Rhinarium help to smell and identify other lemurs but it can not help in avoiding diseases.
So option c is in correct.
So the right answer is option C that is SMELL BETTER.
