By now you have realized that abortion is not a simple black-or-white issue. However, those in favor of abortion ("pro-choice") argue that the question of the morality of abortion rests on the question of whether a fetus is a person.
On the other hand, "pro-life" argue that abortion destroy a human life, and thus it is an immoral act.
First, explain the difference between a person and a human being. Why is this difference relevant in the discussion of abortion? Do you regard the human/person distinction relevant in the discussion or do you think there are more important factors to consider. Which ones?
Human being: Human being is just a species name. It is actually an organasim which falls in biological group named Homo sapiens.
Person: A person is an individual human being i.e. who have taken birth and have seen this world. A fetus cannot be considered as a person. We can say that a person is a developed human.
In discussion of abortion we can relate the above difference upto some extent only, as abortion cannot be considered same as killing a person. Fetus is not a developed human. However, if we think morally life is life, and every living organism has rights to live in this world. Importance of fetus can be seen more than other species but less than a person who has come in this world.
But there are more important factors to be considered in context with abortion like-
(1) Poor financial condition of couple
(2) If pregnancy is a result of crime like rape.
(3) If child have serious defects like genetic problem, handicap, mentally retard etc.
(4) unwanted pregnancy and precaution failure during intercaurse
(5) Mother's life is at risk.
(6) Not having knowledge/awareness about precautions methods
(7) Many couple only wants 'boy', they first perform amniocentasis and then do abortion in case of a girl child.
