Why has the clinical field been slow to investigate possible cultural and racial differences in sexual behaviors?
Most of the developments, both science and technology and medical
takes place in the developed countries then they would be slowly
marketed to other developing and underdeveloped countries. People
from developed countries have almost the same culture as against
the developing and underdeveloped countries who mostly have
collective culture. It's only recently that the medical community
has started considering racial and cultural differences in their
research due to the increased amount of people moving from
different parts of the world as the result of globalisation. It's
not only the medical and technology world that were restricted to
the Western thoughts but this also influenced the developmental
psychologists who didn't consider the racial and cultural
differences while framing their theories. So, it's high time that
the clinical field start getting deep into the cultural and racial
differences when treating and examining sexual behaviours.
