how to find the maximum load of aluminum and mild steel?
how to find yield strength?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) The gauge length 5.65 (A)^0.5 can be marked on the specimen by punching tool.

2) Then the specimen is placed in the testing machine by two valve.

3) Fix extensometer on the specimen. Then set the reading to zero.

4) Apply load slowly by using right valve.  Then we will note extension at a convenient load increment. Extensometer should be removed before it reach at yield point. This right valve is used to apply load but left valve is used to release the load from specimen.

5)As increase in the load at some point, the load pointer remains stationary. Load corresponding to this poinp indicates the yield point. With further increase in load, the pointer goes backward and specimen breaks. The load corresponding to just before the breakin is the ultimate load. The load at the breaking of the specimen is called as the breaking load.

By following above procedure we can find the maximum load corresponding to both Aluminum and mild steel. And yeild strength of both Aluminum and mild steel.
