1- There is mainly four kinds of behavior under stress which is
Elastic, Plastic ,Viscous ,and Brittle: which of these behavior
soil can be categorized ,Explain for each case:-
a)Elastic
b)Plastic
c)Viscous
d)Brittle
2-Soil Stress-Strain Behavior can be expressed by :-
a)Linear ELASTIC
b) NON Linear Elastic
c)Elasto-Plastic
d) Elastic Perfectly Plastic
Draw the Stress Strain Curve that describe each case; and
mention the main characteristic of each curve.
1ans) Four main kinds of soil behaviour
a) Elastic behaviour : A soil is said to be elastic when there is a change of shape or volume os soil when the load is applied and after the load is removed it regains back to the initial positioin after repeated no of loads. The stresses in the soil should not exceed the yeild stress.Peat comes to this category.
b) Plastic behaviour : A soil is said to be plastic when the property of the material to be deformed repeadly without repture by action of a force and remain deformed after removal of load.
c) Viscous behaviour: Viscous behaviour like creep, relaxation and rate dependent and these viscous effects occurs when the soil is consolidated or lightly consolidated.
d) Brittle behaviour: A Brittle behaviour of the soil occurs when the combination of specific volume, spherical pressure and deviatoric stress a soil will continue to deform at constant stress when sheared without any change in volume.
