More than 6.7 billion people inhabit our planet. Due to advances in technology and invention of agriculture, we have skirted the environmental resistance to growth. We have also impinged upon other species demographics. First describe the human population growth. (Is logistic? If so, what phase of the logistic growth curve? What type of survivorship curve? Are we r-selected or k-selected?) Next, describe what you feel would be a fair way to control our population growth?
1)The human population is not logistic as logistic populations show the sigmoid growth curve in this we can see the population first grow fast in of phase and then starts decreasing as it reaches to its carrying capacity.
the human population is exponential growth because of advances in technology and medicine the mortality rate is decreasing so the population is continuously increasing.
2)human population is type 1 survivorship
Survivorship curve shows how many individuals in the population are surviving in the different age group
Survivorship curve has 3 types type 1, type 2, type 3.
Type 1: it is a convex curve in this we can see the starting and middle age have maximum survival but in later life, the less survival the animals of this type Survivorship curve give birth to less offspring and take care of them.
Type 2: diagonal curve these organisms have same mortality and survival rates it does not depend on age e.g lizard
Type 3: concave curve has a maximum mortality rate in early life, moderate in middle age and low in late life
3) humans are K selected( K selected organisms to produce few offspring and take good care of them and live in a stable environment)
4) I feel using a contraceptive, performing tubectomy, vasectomy are fair ways to control the human population. Do family planning and have few children as in these practices there is no harm to anyone.
