The free SHS (Senior High School) policy is a government-initiated policy that started in 2017 under the presidentship of Nana Akuffo-Addo.

The Republic of Ghana is Africa's one of the developing countries. It gets its independence from British colonialism on 6 March 1957.

At the time of independence, Ghana had a relatively good education system compared to other African nations.

The aim of SHS policy is that all Ghanaian children should get an education because education is equal to empowering people. Ghana is an economically developing country it is rich in natural wealth. It is one of the biggest exporters of cocoa and metallurgical industries are also flourishing. They want educated youth.

Poverty is one of the reasons the children were kept away from school. Under the SHS scheme every child who scores the pass marks set by the Ghana Education Service Council would get three years scholarship for secondary education, it has reduced the financial burden from the parents.

The developing country must have more educated people, it can lead to overall equality and job creation, their dependency on the foreign country would reduce.

To improve the education system in Ghana under The Transforming Teacher Education and Learning Program ((T-TEL) to improve the teaching standard, the pre-service teacher education has started.

It imparts training to the graduated youth for teaching in Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools. It aims at providing systematic and uniform practice of teaching. Through their SP (Schools Partnership) program the link is created between the college of education, partner schools, and district education directors.

The lesson to the newly recruited teachers would be based on various factors.

1. The teachers should understand the psychology of the students, she has to be empathetic and a good listener.

2. She has to be approachable, tolerant and should take the class together as a good team leader.
3. She should not be pre-judgmental but make a fair judgment. She should be knowledgeable so that she can convince the student with their queries.

4. She should be able to develop a good student-teacher relationship.

The newly recruited teachers may be fresh graduates or few may be experienced teachers.

The teacher is successful when she understands what and how she has to teach as the level of understanding of each child differs.
