Why do so many new complex system developments incur large risks by choosing to apply immature technology? Give an example of where and how such choices paid off and one where they did not. (Typed Answer Only Please)
When we talk about the maturity of a technology, it should be not only technically safe and sound for industrial and large scale usage, yet in addition pay off in a monetary way. It is also true that technology has made lives easier for us. Within a single click we get our order at our doorstep.
For instance, utilizing composite materials to fabricate airplanes like Boeing 787 Dreamliner has prompted a lessening in generally weight of the airplane, accordingly prompting less fuel utilization, less contamination and consequently, lesser airfares (in principle).
