What is an “Alimak lift”?
Alimak lift is a special kind of lift which uses a rack and Pinion arrangement for moving up and down.
These are designed to operate in demanding industrial environments, outdoors and indoors.
Rack and pinion drive system offers advantages over wire rope and hydraulic lifts. Because an Alimak rack and
pinion lift carries its own machinery, it does not require an expensive machine room or load-bearing lift shaft.
The rack and pinion lift also has safety advantages over traction lifts.
In a power outage, the car slides back to the nearest landing by gravity at controlled speed using the centrifugal
brake. If the rated speed is exceeded, the car is stopped automatically by a safety device.
The range of Alimak industrial lifts includes lifts with capacities of between 300 kg to 2,400 kg and features 30
different standard car sizes, up to a maximum 1.56 m x 3 m.
Travelling speeds are up to 1.0 m/sec .
These lifts are found on silos, chimneys, boilers, scrubbers, absorbers and precipitators.
Advantages
1) Installation and usage of Alimak rack and pinion lifts are extremely profitable.
2)The Alimak lift is also proven to be highly efficient at very low lifting heights; particularly when environmental factors are taken into account.
3) Does not require a lift shaft and is economical to install at plants without lifts.
4) Addresses increased environmental demands.
5) Meets increased health safety and security demands.
6) Economical at very low lifting heights.
7) Cost savings of more than 30% by investing and using the Alimak lift system instead of a conventional lift
