Expert Solution

The approach of Chiquita can be seen as a very successful one when dealing with human resource management in its global supply chain. The genesis of this approach of the company can be seen from the four fundamental values of the organization which is respect, integrity, responsibility, and opportunity.

The external methods are utilized in Chiquita’s approach which incorporates including SA (Social Accountability) 8000 and the Better Banana Project Principle of Fair Treatment and Good Conditions for Workers.

Being the buyer, producer, and supplier of a certain product, the company has to face some specific challenges in case of human resource. As the company is looking after all the three dimensions related to the product produced by it, it is the responsibility of the organization to facilitate the better human resource practices to its manpower. The manpower consists of employees, farmers, and daily wagers, workers who are the parts of buying and distribution of the product

Apart from this, the product can be seen as generic in European countries and thus the brands are not always associated with the products and this imposes a distinguished challenge for the company. While dealing with all these challenges, we can say that it is quite impressive for the company to convert into a corporate world leader in human resource management
