Consciousness is a subjective awareness of one's surroundings, thoughts, feelings, etc. In other terms, consciousness is the internal and external awareness of the person.
Consciousness is facing a very difficult problem to describe why we can say any state is conscious instead of nonconscious. The problem to describe why “something it is like” for an individual in conscious experience and why consciousness triggers and comes into the mind of a person. Mainly different methods of science include a description of functional, dynamical, and structural properties. So basically scientific methods study the functionalities of a thing, variations with time, and how it is put together. But even after answering all the questions of scientific procedure concerned with the conscious mind, we could still meaningfully ask the question, "Why is it conscious? " so. this shows that descriptions of consciousness need to go further than the methods of science.
