You are in charge of a IT for an large state-wide electric utility. The CEO has asked you specifically for guidance on what you consider the greatest "cyber terrorism" threats that the utility faces.

Please provide the top 3-4 threats, and justification/assessment for each.

You can be as specific or general as you want concerning the threats. Separately, the threats could be from state, non-state, specific technologies, security gaps, etc.

I suggest you take time and utilize outside sources to answer this question

Show me what you have learned about the threats we face.

IT industry is facing several types of threats these days. Some threats are related to the Hardware and some with the Software. There are several security checks like Quick-heal, MacaFee etc. softwares which provide the protective shield to prevent the virus attack and to filter out the harmful material from downloading and to cure your system, if by chance, inspite of installation of those software some virus enters your system. Yet many programmers intentionally or unintentionally develop some programme, which invade your system and harm it. Not only that, the harmful impact of those programmes on the psycho-social life of the individual(s) is another big challenge. Some of the major threats, could be:

1. Crash Down of the Website: Due to heavy invasion of the material, many times the websites crash down and important material is lost because of this. There are several virus responsible for this too.

2. Cyber Games: Everybody knows about the miseries brought by the 'Blue-Whale'. It was a major impact, which needed immediate global attention. Other than that there are many Games which keep the children as well as the adults from getting involved in other activities. These games are not only time consuming but impact the physical and psychological health of the person involved too.

3. Cyber-Theft: Hacking of websites to procure the passwords and other secured information from a persons account is another big issue. This has lead to several types of crimes realted to economic loss, harrassment etc.

4. Misuse of Social Media: Many groups and individuals use social media like Facebook, etc. to spread abusive, socially unacceptable and harmful information. Sometimes they share the information, which should have been well-guarded. The circulation of such information may affect the people psychologically and socio-culturally.

The above mentioned crimes have terrorised the society to an extent that on many platforms people discuss the issues like whether this technological boom is a Boon or a Corse. To deal with these terrorising activities, Cyber Police has come up, the instructions associated with the use of a programme have become more stringent yet the Cyber Terrorists find out their ways to invade your system.

These siuation needs immediate and strict action otherwise may lead to unmanegeable chaotic situation.

Consolidated Power, a large electric power utility, has just built a modern nuclear power plant. This plant discharges waste water that is allowed to flow into the Atlantic Ocean. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered that the waste water may not be excessively warm so that thermal pollution of the marine environment near the plant can be avoided. Because of this order, the waste water is allowed to cool in specially constructed ponds and is then released into the...
