To give reason, why when velocity across a pipe increases the pressure drop also increases,
We have to derive the relationship between the velocity in a pipe and pressure drop, this we can get via derivation of General velocity equation of laminar flow through a pipe:
From the above derivation of General velocity Equation in pipe flow, we get;
Velocity in a pipe is directly proportional to the pressure drop in the pipe, i.e.
Hence, we can say that, when velocity increases across the pipe fitting, the pressure drop also increases or vice-versa.
