compare the hardness of some metals with polymers
hardness of metal is the property that gives it the ability to resisit being perminantly and deformed when theload is applied. deformation can be broken, chenging the shape, cutting of metal.generally metals have high themal conductivity and high electrical conductivity, and high density due to their outer electrons are delocalized.metals can deform under stress because of their ductility and malleability.the charecteristic of solid is obtained by the electrostatic interaction between each emtal atom and the elctron cloud , which is known as metallic bond.
physical properties of polymers mainly depends upon chain length and size.polymers are both themal and electrical insulators.the increased vanderwaal attractions with increased chain length tends to fix the individual chains more strongly in the position and resists deformation and and matrix breakup, both at higher temperatures and higher stresses.
