Find the minimum aperture diameter of a camera that can resolve detail on the ground the size of a person (2.1 m) from an SR-71 Blackbird airplane flying at an altitude of 23 km. (Assume light with a wavelength of 470 nm.)
Using Rayleigh criterion for the resolving power of a camera, we
find that the aperture diameter of the camera must be bigger than
6.28 mm. Detailed calculations given below. If you have any doubts
regarding the solution, you can ask me in the comment
section.
