Outline basic safety and sanitation practices critical to preventing food-related illnesses.
Food contaminated by bacteria, viruses , parasites or any microorganisms or by chemical substances can cause various food related diseases which can be serious or even fatal. So it is very important to prevent food from getting contaminated and to take precautions while handling food. Food safety and sanitation is therefore very important to avoid food diseases.
There are 4 ways to food hygiene or food safety to avoid food diseases. (1) _ CLEAN -- • sanitize hands after visiting toilet. • wash hands properly before handling food. • wash or clean fruits and vegetables before using. • wash any food before eating it raw.
(2) SEPERATE RAW AND COOKED FOOD-- Avoid contact between raw and cooked food. Use seperate container and utensils for raw and cooked food.
(3) COOK PROPERLY -- Cook food properly at appropriate temperature and make sure food is properly cooked. Reheat cooked food before consuming.
(4) keep food at appropriate temperature-- Don't keep cooked food at room temperature for long time , keep it in refrigerator. • store fruits and vegetables in refrigerator • Heat food before consuming. •
Thus these practices are critical preventing food-related illnesses.
