For a pharmalogical experiment you need 1L of a drug at a concentration of 10x10-6 in saline. You have aliquots of a stock solution at a concentration of 10mM. How do you make the working solution?

Solutions

Expert Solution

                            Stock solution                                    required solution

concentration = M1= 10mM = 10 x10^-3M =10^-2M       concentration = M2= 10 x10^-6M = 10^-5M

Volume = V1=                                                                  volume = V2 = 1L = 1000 mL

for dilution

M1V1=M2V2

10^-2 x V1 = 10^-5 x 1000

V1 = 1 mL

we take 1mL of 10mM stock solution and add 999 mL of water to convert 1000mL (Or) 1L of dilution solution

Suppose you are conducting an experiment and inject a drug into three mice. Their times for running a maze are 8, 10, and 15 seconds; the times for two control mice (i.e. not injected with the drug) are 5 and 9 seconds. Perform a two-sided permutation rest to determine if there is a statistically significant difference between mean maze completion time with the drug and without the drug.

Since you do not know the range, you perform a serial dilution over several orders of magnitude. You use the pour plate method and plate 1 ml for each dilution level, in duplicate. Give the most accurate value for the number of viable cells in the original stock culture, in CFU / ml. Just enter a number,...

You take a 25.00 mL sample of the original acid solution and dilute it to 250.0 mL. You then take a 10.00 mL sample of the dilute acid solution and titrate it with the standard solution. You need 12.23 mL of the standard solution to reach the endpoint. What is the concentration of the...
