Solutions

Expert Solution

(1st Statement) SUBLIMATION- It is the act of channelising one's negative emotions into positive and productive actions so that it leads to the reversal of those negative emotions completely. In this statement also, the person concerned was experiencing a negative emotion i.e. extreme anger and rather than taking it out on somebody he utilised it into something productive and might have felt happy afterwards. This explains the mechanism of Sublimation

(2nd Statement) REACTION FORMATION- It is the act of faking one's actual feeling towards a person and presenting the exact opposite of that feeling infront of him. In this statement, the person concerned behaves nicest to the people who he strongly dislikes. This explains the mechanism of Reaction formation.

(3rd Statement) DENIAL- It is the act of not accepting the circumstances one is experiencing and rather than coping with it doing actions which take over the underlying emotions and are immature. In this statement, the person concerned tried overlooking his stress and rather than addressing it started sucking his thumb and acting like a baby. This explains the mechanism of Denial.
