Solutions

Expert Solution

Graphite is a crystalline carbon which is found in metamorphic and igneous rocks.

origin- Graphite is a mineral that structures when carbon is exposed to heat and weight in Earth's covering and in the upper mantle. Around 75,000 pounds per square inch pressure is exerted and temperatures in the scope of 750 degrees Celsius are expected to create graphite.

Chemical Composition- Carbon (C)

Graphite's carbon atoms are connected in a hexagonal system which forms one atom thick structures sheets. These sheets are ineffectively associated and effectively separate or slide more than each other whenever exposed to a modest quantity of pressure. This gives graphite its low hardness, slippery feel. It has a specific gravity of 2.6.

Characteristics- Soft in nature, low specific gravity, slippery, good conductors of heat and electricity, doesn't get affected by acids or reagent.

Economical importance- Graphite is used for various purposes such as- refractory material, lubricant, batteries, in nuclear reactors. Graphite has an unusual structure, it shows a large number of the properties normal for metallic materials, for example, electricity. Therefore graphite is additionally utilized in the creation of generator brushes and cathodes. Graphite can be used to produce expensive, high-strength, sporting equipment.
