Using your current organization or one you have worked for in the past, what efforts were taken to assess and/or understand its external environment? In your opinion were those efforts active or passive? Were they sufficient? Why or why not?

Expert Solution

My previous organization have taken many effort and pain in understanding and accessing the external environment, some of the efforts are mentioned as below:

  • Competitors- The existing competition in the market was deeply studied so that the current situation can be analysed.
  • Legal complications- Many export and import rules were taken into consideration so as to ensure that we comply by all such rules and regulations while conducting business.
  • Suppliers- The bargaining power of suppliers were also considered so as to analyse future trends.
  • Economic conditions- Various external factors related to the economy of the market, paying capacity of the customers etc. were studied.

The efforts were very active and proactive and were not passive. Appropriate seriousness was given to both present and future issues. Prompt action was taken at every point wherein data showed a dip in the revenue. Most of these efforts were sufficient but the political factor was one factor that could have been analysed and was missing.
