Based on what you know, is there a difference between economic espionage and cybercrime? If so, what is it? If not, why not?
Yes there is a difference between both. Cyber crime is any crime done with a computer and a network which may involve crimes against any person, company of your own and other nations with a profit driven motive. Like stealing bank information, identity theft etc.
Difference between cybercrime and economic espionage is doing a using or selling trade secrets for the benefit of a foreign agent, company or instrumentality.
Again , the key difference being "benefit to foreign body " in an event of doing a crime over network that involves trade secrets. The reason that it is called economic espionage is, trade secrets involves sensitive and confidential proprietary information which has an impact on the economy of the nation. When a foreign agent or company benefits from the leaks or trading of such information, the economy of the country the company belongs to gets impacted as well.
Hope I helped you, cheers.
