According to Stuart Hall’s lecture “Race, The Floating Signifier,” race discourse has been used as a way of stabilizing culture. Hall specifically discusses “matter out of place” to illustrate the workings of classification as a system of power. Offer examples (from Stuart Hall, our class discussions, out of class experiences, etc.) that demonstrate how race discourse has perpetuated/maintained the “order” in our culture (in respect to race, intelligence, merit, ability, etc.).

Expert Solution

There are several views that race discourse has maintained the order in our society and culture. The supporter of this idea say that this is the case because it sets boundaries in societies. When a boundary is being set then it affect unconscious mind of people and they limit their activities accordingly.

They also try to maintain a boundary which solves out many problems. They also support the fact that concept of "old racism" has been eliminated out from society. None can force anyone to do something. It is the unconscious sense which inspire people to perform various tasks.

When a boundary is being set and declared then people try to identify their own strengths and weaknesses in that boundary only and they come out with a more developed sense of working. We know that African people are good athletes. They can run for a very long distance without being tired.

Excellent performance of African runners in marathon races proves this fact. It is also a fact that any type of concept of racism is a form a of discrimination because we can not measure someone's limit based on his/her skin colour.

Human has an adaptable nature. Training can provide skills to anybody. We can not claim validity of any discrimination in the name of maintaining order. We can not bind someone's imagination and everyone deserves a right to get developed without being victim of any form of discrimination.
