Explain

why a change in the mass of the chemical occurred during heating.

What pieces of evidence demonstrated that a chemical change occurred (other than a

mass change)?

Solutions

Expert Solution

When a chemical is heated there are two types of changes that happen. They are: Physical changes ( change in colour, texture, mass etc.) and Chemical changes ( Oxidation, combustion, decomposition etc.).

Explanation using Examples:

Chemical change can be noted by a change in mass, colour, composition & texture. The liberation of gas, combustion (burning accompanied by a bright light), oxidation are some of the other evidences of chemical change.
