In: Operations Management
You will select one specific topic that is leading to an airspace capacity challenge to address in your paper (e.g. unmanned systems operations, an increase in commercial air traffic, etc.).
Your paper must include:
The impact of capacity on the current structure of the national airspace
The impact of the changes in the capacity on the national airspace touches on many areas ranging from affecting the passengers, aviation companies and the government. The passengers have opted to use internet to compare prices for the carriers increasing the competition in the air service providers. There has also been a burning need for expansion of the existing airports in order for them to meet the demands in future which translates to shouldering the expenses that comes with the expansion. Government is also challenged to cater for the developments of new infrastructure to handle the growing capacity of passengers
An evaluation of the FAA’S National Airspace Systems Plan on current air traffic control system.
In 1982, OTA conducted an assessment of the air traffic and control system and airports. OTA was tasked with implementing the results that were obtained from the assessment findings. FAA selected specific technologies that were aimed at improving the conditions of the airports. Their main aim is to ensure that the current air traffic control system is modernized and improved in the coming years. Technicians in the field of computer technology together with aviation community representatives are involved in coming up with means of modernizing the National Airspace Systems
An assessment of the impact of equipment capacity on National airspace system availability
The levels of air traffic keep growing over time. The demands on the NAS has strained the system’s capacity. As the equipment capacity continues to grow annually, the National Airspace will be scarce and hence the need for adding spaces to accommodate bigger capacity. The increase in the equipment capacity has resulted to a burning need to expand the current existing airports to meet the increasing demands
A proposed recommendation to increase the capacity of the national airspace
Airports have high traffic can be identified so that they can be developed to accommodate the growing demand of more equipment. The expansion of airports will help curb the menace of delays and ease congestions where traffic can move in and out with ease. The nationwide reliability of the airplane systems has been realized due to enhanced capacity and traffic changes. This has made it easier to recover flight schedules faster on bad weather than before
