Solutions

Expert Solution

1. True, because

(a) There are many improvements needed to be implemented in the project management to get much accuracy.

(b) At that situation, the three-point estimation technique is a best choice.

(c) In this method we can easily get the correct results with the less amount of data.

(d) We may not get much confused during the time of working. But much skilled workmanship is required.

(e) Triangulation is a technique which can be taken as an example in the three-point estimation.

(f) In this method, every distribution requires three types of elements such as pessimistic, optimistic and most likely estimate.

(g) The expected time of an activity is taken as the average of these three estimates. {E = (a + 4 m + b) / 6}

E is a weighted average. SD measures the variability or uncertainty in the estimate. In Project Evaluation and Review Techniques (PERT) the three values are used. The triangular distribution is also commonly used. It differs from the double-triangular by its simple triangular shape and by the property that the mode does not have to coincide with the median. The mean (expected value) is then: E = (a + m + b) / 3.

These three different types of estimates results in the best output. In the optimistic stage ,it does not include any type of delay at any stage. In the most probable time, it includes few normal delays as setbacks. Finally, pessimistic time is the longest conceivable time for the completion of project.

2.

(a) In my perception, quality gets impacted directly by the balance achieved in the triple constraints.

(b) In triple constraints, there are three elements to be considered such as scope, schedule and cost.

(c) These three elements consist few different elements themselves. In the scope of the project, it depends on the nature and type of the project. For example, If you are doing a construction project, we have to follow certain list of guidelines. These vary from other type of projects. Then,we should not apply these rules in the other projects. If we apply, the completion time will be extended.

(d) When coming to the cost, the same thing we have to consider as the before. The cost varies from different types of projects. So, we have to find out the costs of items separately for every project.

(e) And we have to prepare different types of schedules for different types of projects. The erroneous result will be appeared in the quality of outcome, If we do any mistake in considering the scope, schedule and cost. Because more than 85% the result depends on the balance achieved by these three constraints.

(f) If you are doing a building construction project, you need to mention the scope of the building such as residential, commercial and government building etc. Each and every type of construction varies from one another. And we have to estimate the cost different of others. And we have prepare a fresh schedule without including the any other previous elements used in the previous projects. So, the result depends on these three objects or constraints.

3. Project Management Knowledge Areas:-

Skills Management is not a knowledge area for project manager.

(a) Project Management Knowledge Area is a platform where a project manager gets some knowledge for the project implementation.

(b) Time management describes how to manage with the time without exceeding the project completion time.

(c) Risk management gives the information about the situations which you will face during the implementation of improper works and quality less inputs.

(d) Cost management explains the cost of items used in the projects. But, skills management is not a part of Project Management Knowledge. Because, after selecting the skilled workers the project will be given and implemented. Those who are not having required knowledge are prohibited for doing projects. That's why the skills managements has no place in the knowledge area. This can not be mentioned in the project management.
