How the internet and other information technologies affect the diffusion of language?

It helps in dissemination of language in the following ways -

1. Many live chat apps are there which gives you a reason to learn foreign language when you talk to people in other countries and when you get to know lots of things about them and their language and culture and hence you are influenced by them.

2. These internet platforms connect you with the world and provide you a platform to fight outside and hence it is like do or die like struggle. Either you learn the language acceptable in these platforms (like english, Spanish etc) or you stop using these apps (fb, etc).

3. Sometimes some people share pictures in their own language that others do not understand and it forces you to learn other's language and you get to know much about them as well.

4. Similarly, you can learn any language easily on youtube nowadays and you can also get a degree in them (distance learning programme) Hence it helps in diffusion of a language but the instinct to learn a language comes from inside when you have a reason for it.

5. But sometimes technologies act as hindrance as well. Since there are technologies that convert the language immediately into your own language and you need not to learn other's language to understand something and hence you do not try to understand the other's language in that case. Example - when ministers of one country goes to other, they talk in their own languages and understand each other as well and they need not to learn another language for it.
