Why will voluntary actions, undertaken at the individual level, be unlikely to bring about significant reductions in greenhouse gases such as CO2?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:
Voluntary actions, undertaken at the individual level, be unlikely to bring about significant reductions in greenhouse gases such as CO2 because of following reasons:

  • Most of the emission of CO2 is being done by industries and until they don't take any concrete action it cannot be controlled.
  • CO2 emission mostly happen during production of the end product that we use, so until that production is made green house friendly this cannot be control.
  • Most of the oxygen producing plants are phytoplankton that provides 77% of oxygen that we breath and these are destroyed by countries in their oil excavation ventures so individual undertaken won't be a significant outbreak on this front.
  • Even deforestation and all is mainly done by the industries and government to create a new city or to establish another factory or dam, individual have little to no role in this.
  • Individuals if collaborate with every citizen of the nation can bring some difference but not to the extent that can be visible.
  • With the advancement of technology emission of greehouse gas has further increaed, even coal and non renewable form of energy also contributes the same.
