How would chemical engineer involved in plastic recycle process?

How would chemical engineer involved in plastic recycle process?

Solutions

Expert Solution

As we know that plastic recycling is the process of recovering scrap material and converting them into useful products. It may be possible that the materials are completely different from their previous state. Plastics are becoming part of nations waste stream.

chemical engineer involves in the chemical recycling operation. Recycling chemical operations are aims to chemically degrade the collected particle waste into its small monomer units. further small monomer units are reused for polymerization into new plastics. Further alternative fuel and other chemicals can be produced by using newly polymerized plastic.

several chemical engineering innovations and technologies are being developed by major chemical industries. Used plastics are allowed to undergo separation and transformation by machines which are invented by chemical engineers. after separation plastics are also reprocessed without significant material breakdown.

chemical engineers and scientists are working together to develop economically viable technologies for converting low-density polyethylene into liquid fuel under low pressure. as we know that most of the plastics are made from petrochemicals, so by plastic recycling, the product can be used as an oil substitute in refining and petrochemical complexes.
